The rock world goes ape on Wednesday, June 28, when VH1 presents an
all-day “Monkees Marathon” featuring classic episodes of “The Monkees”
TV series hosted by original Monkees member Peter Tork, followed by the
premiere of the VH1 Original Movie “Daydream Believers: The Monkees
Story.” Beginning at 6:00 a.m. (ET/PT), VH1’s “Monkees Marathon” brings
back the greatest episodes of the show that changed the face of pop
music on TV. Peter Tork will host the day-long marathon, revealing
behind-the-scenes tales from the show as well as counting down to the
premiere of “Daydream Believers: The Monkees Story,” debuting at 9:00
p.m. (ET/PT). In addition, VH1 will feature encore presentations of “The
Monkees: Behind The Music” at 8:00 p.m. (immediately preceding the VH1
Original Movie) and 11:00 p.m. VH1.com will host a special live AOL chat
with original Monkees members Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork, also on
Wednesday, June 28, at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT). Two of the cast members,
George Stanchev and L.B. Fisher from “Daydream Believers: The Monkees
Story” will be on hand for the chat as well. (Log on to AOL, keyword:
LIVE.) And VH1.com’s “The Monkees’ Greatest Hits Sweepstakes” will
celebrate the VH1 Original Movie premiere by giving away 50 copies of
the Rhino Records CD “The Monkees’ Greatest Hits,” featuring “Last Train
to Clarksville,” “Pleasant Valley Sunday,” “Daydream Believer” and many
more. In addition, ten lucky winners will receive one-of-a-kind prizes
including a copy of the script of “Daydream Believers: The Monkees
Story” signed by the cast members or an autographed T-shirt. “Daydream
Believers: The Monkees Story” tells the dramatic true story of the four
unknowns who were cast in the phenomenally popular 1960s TV series and
the problems that eventually arise when they insist on playing their own
instruments and writing their own songs. George Stanchev stars as Davy
Jones, Jeff Geddis portrays Mike Nesmith, L.B. Fisher (“Felicity”) is
Peter Tork, and Aaron Lohr (“D3: The Mighty Ducks”) plays Micky Dolenz
in the film, also starring Colin Ferguson (“The Opposite of Sex”) and
Wallace Langham (“Veronica’s Closet,” “The Larry Sanders Show”).
“Daydream Believers: The Monkees Story” is part of “Movies That Rock,”
VH1’s summer-long festival of rock flicks, presented every Wednesday
