Davy Jones’ Regrets Over Fatherhood

The Monkees star Davy Jones feels guilty for focusing on his career as his children were growing up because he let his rock star lifestyle take precedence over fatherhood.

Jones found fame with The Monkees in the 1960s, selling millions of albums worldwide before moving into acting in the 1970s.

His eldest daughters, Talia and Sarah, by first wife Linda Haines, were born in 1968 and 1971 respectively – and Jones regrets not being around for their formative years.

He tells Britain’s Daily Mail, “I missed the school play. I missed the Christmas nativity. These are times when an entertainer works. But that doesn’t mean the guilt ever goes away.”

Jones and Linda divorced in 1975 and the singer admits: “I was single and a real rascal. But I’m not proud of the way I behaved during those times: I’ve always believed the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother.”

The star went on to have two more children with his second wife Anita Pollinger in the 1980s and is now married to Jessica Pacheco.
