This audio comes from the only known bootleg recording of The Monkees’ 1969 tour, thought to be the May 10, 1969 performance in Wichita, Kansas. Spliced together here are some of the best audible fragments of the bootleg. The bootleg itself is an absolutely horrible recording usually sought after for historical purposes only. For years there have been rumors that the band recorded a show on this tour, but no tapes have ever turned up. The photograph is courtesy of Joe Alterio, and was taken at a Monkees concert (with Sam and the Goodtimers backing them) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 22, 1969.
