Album review – Monkeemania
Friday May 13,2011
By Simon Gage
Decades before Glee, The Monkees were where it was at when TV and music came together.
Unfairly derided, mostly because they had been cobbled together for the show and perhaps emphasising the cuteness of Davy Jones a little too much, these cheeky popsters have stood the test of time.
This collection of nearly 60 tracks sounds almost like perfect pop, as well it might with writers such as Neil Diamond and Carole King turning out the likes of I’m A Believer and Pleasant Valley Sunday.
